Engineering Leadership, NY Site Lead

Abridge

Standort: NYC Office, United States (Remote)

ABOUT ABRIDGE Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients. Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems. We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh. THE ROLE Our agentic AI-powered products are bringing joy back to the practice of medicine, and we're building out our engineering presence in New York. We're looking for an engineering leader to be the senior technical presence in our SoHo office — someone who will own business-critical product areas end-to-end while setting the bar, the culture, and the pace for the engineers we hire around them. This is a builder's role first and a site leader's role second. You'll scope and ship product in an area that is still being defined, grow a team from a small core, and represent Abridge engineering in New York. This role is based in New York and requires working from our SoHo office five days / week. We believe the fastest way to build this team is in person, and we're looking for someone who wants to set that example. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Build our New York engineering presence: Be the senior engineering voice in our NY office. Establish the operating rhythm, quality bar, and culture of the office. Make New York a place strong engineers want to do their best work. - AI-native leadership: Bring a real point of view on how agentic engineering changes the way software gets built — in the product you ship and in how your team works. - Drive pace and performance: Raise the execution velocity of the org around you. Set business context for your team, partner closely with product and design, and be a multiplier for the leaders and engineers you work alongside. - Own an area and ship it: Take a product area from ambiguity to shipped, enterprise-grade software. You'll set technical direction, make the architecture calls, and be accountable for the output of your team. We don't expect you to code daily, but we expect you to be close enough to the tech to unblock, and to still enjoy being hands-on. WHAT YOU’LL BRING - At least 5+ years managing software engineering teams — including time as a manager of managers or as the most senior engineering leader in a location. - Track record of building something from zero to real scale, and of owning the product outcome rather than just the engineering process. - Hands-on technically. You can read and review the code your team is shipping, get into a codebase when something needs unblocking, and hold your own in a technical design discussion. - A clear, well-formed point of view on AI and agentic engineering, and evidence you've acted on it. - Skilled at hiring and mentorship, with a track record of helping engineers grow their skills and careers — and of hiring quickly while keeping the bar high. - Has thrived in a fast-growing startup and knows how to operate in that environment. Excited to be hands-on in a fast-moving, productive, and supportive environment, and willing to pitch in wherever needed. - Based in New York and excited to be in the SoHo office five days a week. - Genuine passion for Abridge's mission to improve healthcare in America and across the world. BONUS POINTS IF… - Experience as a site lead, or as the founding senior engineering leader for a new office or region. - Experience managing or working directly with AI/ML engineering teams and shipping AI- or ML-powered product features. - Experience working in a health tech environment, or in another highly regulated, enterprise-sold domain. - Founder or early-employee experience.
